ABOUT US

Established in 2015, the San Antonio Military Medical Center Orthopaedic Residency Alumni Association celebrates the heritage of the program and successes of so many alumni. Additionally, it furthers the education of the current San Antonio Uniformed Services Healthcare Education Consortium Orthopaedic Surgery Residents. The mission of your Association is to augment the education of SAMMC orthopaedic residents and current faculty, and to build esprit de corps and networking opportunities amongst our alumni.

With the generosity of faculty, resident alumni and our industry donors, we raised over $250,000. With this support, we have been able to highlight the annual George E. Omer Research Symposium at offsite venues, host an Annual Golf Tournament, establish a graduation ceremony tradition at La Cantera.  We have augmented the surgical simulation program through the generosity of alumni association donations and industry supporters.  Most importantly, this association has improved the education of the residents through the Visiting Professor Program. Renowned surgeons have brought their knowledge directly to the residents and have left lasting impacts on the entire department.

As the financial strength of the Association grows with the aid of Data Trace Management Services (DTMS), we hope to increase our educational offerings for the residents and faculty, including individualized protective lead, attendance at the AAOS Educator’s Course, specialty annual meetings and scholarships for board review courses.  We hope to generate additional enthusiasm with our new website and logo.

Of course, to continue to innovate and expand our educational mission, the Association will need the continued support of its Members. The Association is a non-profit, tax exempt 501(c) corporation in Texas, and can accept your gifts to be applied to Association activities/initiatives. Gifts can be submitted at any time directly to the Association through DTMS.  See the Donors page for previous donors and how to donate to your Association.
