OVERVIEW

The SAUSHEC Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program accepts applications for PGY-1 residency positions through the MODS application system. Six PGY-1 positions are available each year-3 Air Force and 3 Army. The JSGMESB (Joint Service Graduate Medical Education Selection Board) application opens late May and closes in October (check MODS for exact application dates). Interviews are held during visiting rotations, by phone and en masse in mid-October.

HOW TO APPLY

An application must be completed through Medical Operational Data System (MODS) website. The following websites have more information regarding required documents.

 ROTATIONS

One month orthopaedic rotations are offered for 4th year medical students interested in applying for orthopedic residency. It is recommended to complete a rotation at programs of interest. 

​To set up a rotation at SAUSHEC, the following must be completed:

• Send an application starting 9 months prior to desired rotation start date
• Send up to date immunization records
• Further detailed information will be sent upon acceptance to complete a rotation
